Loopy & Ray The phoenix has risen from the ashes! It really does restore your faith in the human spirit. Loopy and Ray found new premises, built a brewery, Bowman Ales, with a little help from their friends and started producing beer around Christmas 2006. Their first beer called "Test Tipple" was good enough to drink, but not up to their own exacting standards. So we drank it anyway! Twelve 9 gallon casks of it at least. Their second brew "Swift One" is now available in 40 (Forty) outlets. And we drink about Twelve 9 gallon casks of it a week, with no sign of a slow down. Their third brew " Quiver", a little stronger shows promise and will also be a winner. Wallop's Wood was next, followed by Elderado (a beautiful lighter beer with a subtle hint of elderflowers). Nutz is their Winter Brew (as the name suggests, it is brewed with a subtle hint of sweet chestnuts).Their latest brew is Maximus. They are winning awards all over the place and pubs are taking their beer in increasing amounts (I wont tell you which pubs, I'm not that dumb!) . Hampshire has a new brewery, and it was worth the wait. See their web site here for more information.
The Cricket Team The Cricket Team did rather well last year in the Pub Friendly league. For a new side, they actually did bloody well! Adam Smith continues to wield a fearsome bat, but his bowling has so far killed two umpires and a passing collared dove. Southampton Airport re-route airplanes depending on where the team are playing, and the teamsheet and game location has to be submitted to the NATS Air Traffic Control Centre for approval. Call for Content If you have a paragraph you want added to this page, obviously about a regular at the Bowman. Please email me with it using this link. It can even be about me! As long as it is vaguely amusing or interesting and not abusive I will include it.
